  • COURSE INTRODUCTION, OVERVIEW AND WELCOME MESSAGE

    Welcome to the Peace Building, Information Communication Technology and Media (PBICTM).  

    On behalf of the lead of this course, I wish to welcome you to the Peace Building, Information Communication Technology, and Media course. 

    This course will expose you to the importance of Information Communication Technology in Peace-building.  Modern means of communication have replaced traditional means of communication. Information and communication technology can be used as effective tools for security and sustainable peace. Modern means of communication present certain advantages over traditional means of communication. They are critical tools in peacebuilding and peacekeeping operations

    This course is expected to run for 12 weeks. We shall have 11 weeks of active instructions and one week of assessment.

    In this course, you will learn how to employ different means of communication for sustainable peace and security. This will help students to be effective peacebuilders. It will empower them to become actors in changing the conflict narrative using the social media platforms.

  • SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND PREPARATORY COURSES

    In the first week of this course, you will offer some short modules for skills development and preparation. This includes short courses on Life Skills, Introducing Basics in Health, Hygiene and COVID-19 prevention, community resilience, and Sexual and Reproductive health. These preparatory courses were made to give you an introduction to the essentials of life skills to help you forward in your life and your job.

    In Life Skills, you will learn to think about who you are and where you want to go, and what skills you will need to develop in order to get there. In the Basics of Health, Hygiene and COVID-19, you will be introduced to health principles that are important for you and your community. In community resilience, you will learn to recognize how experiences you have may have impacted or continue to impact you, and how you can deal with this, so that you can fully concentrate on your professional career. In Sexual and Reproductive Health, you will learn the components of sexual and reproductive health, attributes of youth-friendly services, sexual and reproductive health problems, and ways to maintain positive sexual and reproductive health in youths

  • Module 1 - Peace Building and Peace Building Communication

    You are welcome to your first unit of learning in this course.

     By the end of this unit, you will be able to understand the concepts of peace, peace building and peace building process as well as the peacebuilding approaches and strategies.

    You will also have a new perspective on communication for peace building.

  • Module 2 - Conflict Resolution, Reconciliation and Communication

    You are welcome to your first unit of learning in this course by the end of the module, you will be able to understand the concepts of Conflict resolution and reconciliation, conflict resolution and reconciliation process as well as the conflict resolution mechanisms.

    You will also have a new perspective on communication for conflict resolution and reconciliation.

  • Module 3 - Communication for Peace Building

    Welcome to the third module – communication for peacebuilding. 

    This module is an essential, if not critical component of the Peace Building diplomacy course. It is expected that by the end of the module, you will have gained a solid understanding of the basic essentials of communication for peacebuilding. 

    The module highlights what communication is and moves sequentially to examine platforms and technologies for peacebuilding, and communication barriers in peacebuilding and concludes with highlights of participatory communication in peacebuilding.


  • Module 4 - Media for Peace Building and Conflict Resolution

    In this module, the basic definitions and the constructive roles of media and communication for conflict resolution and transformation to foster peace and stability will be discussed. 

    The correlative relations between Media and peace builders and their common objectives will also be assessed.

  • Module 5 - Social Attitude and Peace Building

    The importance of strengthening one's writing and speaking skills to influence decision-making and other people's conduct is emphasized here. This is especially important in dispute resolution because the negotiator/mediator in a conflict must have a deep understanding of the problem as well as a specific demeanor and mannerisms to carry out their tasks.

  • Module 6 - Peace Building Practice

    You are welcome to your sixth module of learning in this course. 

    This module introduces you to the various avenues that peace promoters use in peace-building interventions. It will take you through the various platforms and provide you with information that can better prepare you to use the different avenues effectively to advance peace-building efforts.

    It is expected that by the end of the module, you would gain a full understanding of the conceptual framework of peacebuilding in practice as promoted through the various platforms indicated in the unit outline.
